WEEK 5

Wow week 5 already I cant believe it.. Good news is I feel FANTASTIC .. Yes I have the  occasional food item that makes me sick and I'm still learning but the majority of the time I feel really good. Still surprises me how little I can eat and how full I am almost ALL the time!  My daily food intake at 5 weeks is:

B- 1/4 cup of greek yogurt or 1/4 cottage cheese
S- Protein shake
L-  string cheese with a slice of lunch meat or  1.5 oz chicken .5 veggies
S- Protein shake
D- 1.5 oz chicken or turkey and .5 oz veggies

My workout schedule: 4-5 days at gym per week..

daily i do cardio somedays just a relaxed cardio and others i do a circuit training and other days a slow and push pase cardio.about 30-45 min and then I lift weights 3 sets of 15 reps ... alternating legs, biceps, triceps, thighs, abs, shoulders..... each workout.

Im planning to try baked fish again tonight HOPE it goes better than last time..

This week I lost 4 pounds ..... Thats a total of 20 lbs since surgery and 31 since march 25 pre op diet.

Lost measurements this week:  1/2 inch off arms and thighs and 1 inch off waist

Funny observation is when im losing pounds inches are few loss and when im losing inches weight loss slows. crazy!

The gyms is my new addiction or the feeling I get after the gym! =)

Week 4

One month already.... where does the time go..... So this week was pretty good.... tried eggs for a second time and yepp still makes me sick, which makes me sad bcuz most people use it as a staple in their diet.

Gym has been going good. Ive been sticking to 5 days a week , even if my mind is not in the mood. Im getting so much stronger its amazing! I just never in a million years thought I would love the gym as much as I do now. I have NEVER lifted weights and npt it is not a workout without my weights...

Went to my first support group and LOVE it. Was so neat to talk with others 1-4 years out and how they are maintaining and what they are doing.. Looking forward to next weeks.....

Have my 1 month follow up Thursday...

Weight this week was down 1.4 lbs yaaay... slow but steady.....

I lost one inch this week and it was off my hips.

Im officially down 1 pant size YIPPIE....

Total weight loss for month 1 is : -16.0
Total inch loss for month 1 is:  -11.5 inches

Found a great recipe I would like to share:

No Noodles Lasagna recipe – Easy to make – Delicious Everyone will want seconds Ingredients • Meat Layer:
• 2 pounds of ground beef
• 1 Onion
• Spice ( garlic salt or Tex mex whatever you desire)
• 1 jar of spaghetti sauce ( I use Ragu )
• Middle layer:
• 1 frozen spinach package ( 10 ounces)
• Cream Cheese pkg ( 8 ounce)
• 1 Egg
• salt & pepper
• Optional
• 1-2 eggplant ( if desired)
• 1 Cup Shredded Cheese ( as much as desired)
• 3 Tablespoons of Parmesan Cheese ( the kind in a can)

Instructions 1. Begin by browning your ground beef on the stovetop on medium heat.
2. While that is browning – if you’re adding eggplant – Chop thin long strips and sprinkle olive oil on cookie sheet and lightly coat your eggplant strips and pop them in the oven at 350 degrees – Turning once after 10 minutes for another 10 minutes. Let your eggplant noodles cool.
3. Once your ground beef is cooked – Add spaghetti sauce and chopped onion to the cooked beef – and continue to cook at low to medium heat and stir.
4. Next create the Spinach layer
5. Soften your cream cheese in the microwave for 30 seconds until you can easily mix with a fork – add in your drained thawed spinach and 1 egg with some salt and Pepper – Stir well mixing it all together. Set aside
6. I use a 11 x 13 baking sheet
7. Put half of your of meat mixture on the bottom
8. then layer your eggplant noodles in a single layer ( If you have tons of egg plant you can add a layer at the bottom. )
9. Add a thin layer of shredded cheese
10. Then layer your spinach layer ( all)
11. Then add remainder of meat mixture ( It may not fully cover – don’t worry)
12. Add remainder of Shredded cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan
13. Bake in over at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.

week 3....

Well I would have to say this week has been the hardest. I was so excited to move on to soft foods,  but did not realize how hard this would be. #1 not all foods agree with my new pouch and #2 some just not longer appeal to the old taste buds. Not only do I have to go thru the learning to eat again,  but focus on getting in 60-80 Grams of protein and 64 oz of water a day. This is extremely hard when you can only consume 2-3 oz a sitting.. Another challenge it knowing when you are full before its too late. Since I never feel hungry it can be a challenge.

The things that did not agree with my pouch...
Fish cooked any way
Tuna
Salmon
melons
All the above made my stomach cramp soooooo bad it was miserable

Things that saved me this week ....
Wendy's chili - actually very healthy for you
low fat cottage cheese
premier protein protein shake
weight watchers string cheese wrapped with a piece of turkey lunch meat.

I did make it to the gym 3 out of the 5 days. I did a few 3 mile walks with my friends. My gym workout Consist of 30-45 min workout,  and 3 sets of 10 reps of 6 different weight lifting exercises depending on which muscle group I am targeting that day. I alternate everyday so I do not over work one area.

Successes this week:
was able to fit into the next  size smaller pants ; some not all =) But very excited!

My measurement loss this week was :    -1 inch waist -1.5 thighs .5 arms 0 hips
My weight loss this week was: -2.5 pounds

Over all a learning week.. Good and bad ...

This coming week I move onto all foods but think I will take it slow... I also add in a few more vitamins which themselves fill me up.. this should be interesting..

Post-Op week 2

This week was spent getting back into the groove of things. Back to school,  and went back to work. Remembering to drink, take vitamins , log food intake ( I'm on lose it app , incase anyone is too ) and exercise.

A few days this week, I felt very exhausted however it was at night,  and I was able to sleep.

So, this week I move to soft foods. Feeling a bit nervous but excited since I am way over this liquid diet.  Also, Start my Gym workouts, per my surgeon  with circuit training + alternating leg workouts, arm workouts, chest and abs. Still Planning to do the 3 mile morning walks with friends as an addition. We will see how this works

Water intake is up to where it should be at 60 oz . I am just working on my protein intake. I am hoping it will be much easier with foods introduced into diet. I have stocked up in High protein foods =)

This weeks Measurements: -1/2 inch waist , -3 inch hips, -1 inch on thighs =) Overall 4.5 inches lost

This weeks weight loss: -.5

until next week =)

1 week follow-up

Today I had my 1 week follow up with my surgeon. Went so well! Surgery went as well as it possibly could, and I am healing just as planned. He asked me about my workouts, I was happy to report I started my 2.5 mile walks with my friends. He said Good but thats not an activity that we consider a workout. It will not build enough muscle needed to support the rapid weight loss. So Im joining the gym =) Have a 3 week follow up with him and my nutritionalist so I better get on it! Good news was i am down 11 lbs from pre-op liquid diet and 12 lbs since surgery! Yaaaaay

I went back to work today ! It actually felt great to get back to my schedule and I feel ok. I did FINALLY get my 64oz + in today Yay!

3 more days of this liquid diet then on to puree stage THANK GOD!

Happy Wednesday!

1 week post op......

What a week! So surgery went wonderful! Doctor said i did fantastic,  and I was sent home the next day. The pain was incredible the first day! Thank god for pain meds! But by the 2nd day I didn't have much pain it was more of a tender feeling.  I was sent home and my AMAZING husband was so great and took care of me. I have progressed to a full liquid diet, which one crazy thing is stuff I liked pre-surgery I don't care for anymore and the foods I didn't like I love now. Crazy! I know. One major bummer was finding out my body doesn't like yogurt anymore.. BOOOO. I am gonna try a different brand just hoping its that brand. We shall see... The other is trying to get down 60 oz water a day and still have 3 meals a day. Im at 30-35 oz a day right now and 2 oz meals 3 times a day. I am not hungry AT ALL .. Love that .. I am working on increasing the water this week and will be adding 2 protein shakes. I got to get more protein in......
So its back to school and work this week. Hoping all goes well , I think I will be fine just a little worried bcuz I still get tired easy!!

So week one measurement loss was: 2.5 inches in waist lost,1.5 inches lost in thighs and 1 inch lost on arms.  total loss of 5 inches

and I'm down 11.2 pounds! =)

Will post again Thursday after my 1 week doctor follow up!

April Goals...

My April Goals...
#1- Lose 15 pounds
#2- Get back to my daily 3 mile walks within 1.5 weeks after surgery.
#3- Hit my Daily drink and food intake goals set by my Doc

Twas the night before Surgery...

I made it! Did not cheat at all! Not even once! Very proud consider I had 2 birthday parties, and my own 29th birthday! =) I have learned so much about myself in these last two weeks during my pre-op liquid diet. I have learned how much control food had on my life. I eat pretty healthy and workout often but it was EXTREAMLY hard the first 3 days to detox and get off caffeine and carbs! I still can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks since I have had a cup of coffee, never could I imagine my life without it.
I feel soooooo much better now and it still blows my mind how little I need every day to feel great! These protein shakes fill me up and are low cal and carb. I think it is something that will stay with me.
How I did with March Goals:
#1- Getting into the habit of taking all my vitamins- was really easy actually! When I had to stop 1 week                         prior to surgery it was hard to remember NOT to take them!
#2- Stick to pre-op Diet – Now this was very hard at times! But I made it! I did it! I feel so much better now! However I am VERY glad it’s over =)
#3-Give up coffee – this one was the one I dreaded most! But I have switched to Caffeine free herbal teas, and I have not missed coffee much, won’t say completely. Amazing everyone around me didn’t kill me in the process.
#4- Lose 10 pounds pre-op, this was my goal, not a goal my doctor set. I’m happy to report that I have lost 11.4 Pounds =) Yippee GO ME!

March Goals..

Well I am still pre-op 23 days. However I will start my pre-op liquid diet on the 24th of March.
I am a HUGE coffee drinker and I have to give up coffee =( Seems like they want me to give it up forever.. however I am willing to give it up for 3 months and will try to stick to decaf once I resume.

March Goals:

#1- Get into habit of taking all my vitamins
#2- Stick to Pre-op diet
#3- Give up coffee =(
#4- Lose 10lbs Pre-op

Just me.

So I figured the best way to start my blog is to tell ya'll about me so here goes.

What is your earliest memory of being overweight or your first experience with dieting? That was the main focus/question during my Nut evaluation a month ago.... 7 years old..... I remember over hearing my sister, then 17, tell my mom " What I wouldn't  give to be 100 pounds" I remember running to her scale, jumping on , and seeing 107 and I thought to myself wow I am so lucky I AM 100 POUNDS!!! Now I was 7 and had nooooo idea i was over weight,  all I knew was my BIG sister would give anything to be my weight =)

My whole life feels like one HUGE diet. There is 10 years between my sister and I, so I grew up watching  her,  and my mom struggle to get thin. The crazy things they tried would be my future life lol. I have tried all the same ways to lose weight and like them it didn't work.

For me I struggle with GERD , severe acid reflux, and migraines. It has progressed so much that I am bed ridden 3-4 days a month minimum . Choosing this surgery was the best choice I feel I could have made. It will completely take away my GERD & Migraines. It will help me lose weight since my metabolism has snail speed due to damages from my GERD. I will be getting my life back!

I'm creating this blog to track of my progress during my journey, keep myself on track, and help motivate others! I will post monthly goals, weekly weight ins and measurements, and of course pictures.

until next time......
